ka0 is the basal rate constant; ΔGel* is the electrostatic interaction energy, which modulates the rate constant; and ka is the overall association rate constant.

Shown below the rate constant information are the electrostatic surfaces of the two subunits; each surface is accompanied by a ribbon representation of the other subunit in the native complex, to indicate the binding site.

The graphs at the bottom show the Nc versus χ map and the Nc versus σχ curve, used for locating the transient complex. χ and σχ are in radians. The native complex and the transient complex are indicated by a green circle and a blue line, respectively.
